Advice for the right Castors

1. Swivel wheel or fixed castor?
2. Load capacity of the wheel?
3. Topplate or Central Hole?
4. Hard and soft wheels?

SWIVEL WHEEL OR FIXED CASTOR?

Depending on the purpose you had best use 4 swivel wheels (with or without brakes) or 2 swivel wheels and 2 fixed castors.

In case you need the wheels to be able to manoeuvre into many directions, the best thing to do is to take 4 swivel wheels. In case a lot of straight rolling will be done, it is better to use 2 fixed castors and 2 (decelerated) swivel wheels.

What is the difference between fixed castors, swivel wheels and decelerated swivel wheels?

Fixed castors are wheels that can only roll back and forth, with these wheels you can easily ride into one direction.

Swivel wheels with a top plate are wheels that can rotate in all directions, and enable you to ride into every direction, mounted by means of a top plate, including four bolt holes.

Locking swivel wheels with a top plate are wheels that can rotate in all directions. As soon as they are locked, the wheel can no longer roll and also the rotation is locked. As such, these wheels are double locked. Mounted by means of a top plate, including four bolt holes.

Swivel wheels with a central hole are wheels that can rotate in all directions, and you can ride in all directions. Mounted by means of one central hole with 1 bolt hole.

Locking swivel wheels with a central hole are wheels that can rotate in all directions. As soon as they are locked, the wheel can no longer roll and also the rotation is locked. As such, these wheels are double locked. Mounted by means of a one central hole with 1 bolt hole.

Locking swivel wheels with directional lock are wheels with a brake, which can also lock the direction without the brake being applied.

CALCULATION OF THE CARRYING CAPACITY
What carrying capacity do I need?
The appropriate carrying capacity can best be calculated by dividing the total weight by 3. This is what we advise because in case of uneven surfaces, it could happen that one wheel comes off the floor, resulting in the weight resting on 3 wheels.

Is the carrying capacity indicated on the product also the capacity per wheel?
Yes, the carrying capacity indicated on the product means: per wheel.

TOP PLATE OR CENTRAL HOLE?
Our wheels with a top plate have a plate fitting with 4 bolt holes. These top plates have standard measures.

Wheels with a central hole have only 1 hole to secure the wheel.

As the height of top plate-wheels and central hole-wheels are different, these types of wheels cannot be combined.
So, you order either fixed castor-, swivel- and locking swivel wheels with a top plate. Or you order swivel- and locking swivel wheels with central hole. Fixed castor wheels with a central hole are not available.

WHICH WHEELS ARE HARD AND WHICH WHEELS ARE SOFT?
The wheels can be classified as shown below from hard wheels to soft wheels.
In the product description it is indicated whether the wheels are hard or soft. Keep this in mind if you have a vulnerable floor.
